Livestock Veterinarian
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Livestock Veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in caring for farm animals, diagnosing and treating illnesses, and ensuring the overall health and well-being of our livestock. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing the health of our herd and ensuring the farm maintains the highest standards of animal care.
Responsibilities
Diagnose, treat, and prevent a wide range of illnesses and injuries in livestock, including cattle, sheep, goats, and poultry.
Administer vaccinations, medications, and other treatments as needed to maintain animal health.
Perform routine health check-ups and provide emergency care when required.
Monitor herd health, identify signs of disease, and implement preventive measures.
Work closely with the farm manager and staff to develop and implement herd health programs.
Provide guidance on animal nutrition, breeding, and overall management practices.
Keep detailed medical records for all animals and ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
Educate farm staff on proper handling and care techniques to promote animal health.
Advise on biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of diseases across the farm.
What We Are Looking For:
DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree with a focus on large animal or livestock care.
3+ years of experience working as a veterinarian with farm animals.
Strong knowledge of livestock health, diseases, and treatments.
Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work long hours and in challenging conditions when necessary.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with farm staff.
A genuine passion for animal care and welfare.
